Testing

Due to the nature of our system, and the fact that a publisher can only create one side of a matching reservation, testing your integration with our system can be a little tricky. In order to help with that we have created a few fictitious accounts that can be used by everyone. We colloquially refer to these at the Gemstone Accounts (see below).

You will see these test entities in the user portal as well, and just like other partners, you must subscribe to the bundles for these accounts in order to get subscription messages for them. All communication to and from these accounts will not incur any actual charges to your account, regardless of the cost set on the subscriptions. They are for testing only.

In order to test the bundles that you want to subscribe to, you will need to create reservations with customer data that matches up with the gemstone customers. You will also need to create a reservation in one of the gemstone accounts that will have similar locations and dates.

Customer Data

We have created a set of 100 customers just for testing, and have uploaded them to all of the gemstone accounts. When you create test customers and reservations in your system, using any of these customer data sets will ensure a proper match with all test accounts. See the customer list below.

Reservation Data

Once you create a reservation and it is sent to Dihedral, you can trigger a companion reservation in one of the gemstone accounts and force a match on both of them. The reservation generator will bypass the typical location comparison and forcibly trigger the match. All subscribed bundles will then be processed, and sent as they arrive.

Generate Script

There is a simple api endpoint that will help trigger the creation of testing reservations and other events from the gemstone accounts. Since it has the same authentication criteria as the publish api, we have created a simple script that will generate the message and authentication for you. You just need to supply your api key and secret.

If, for example, you are a hotel publisher, and you published a reservation with the id 10000006 for a customer with id 10000005, you could create a matched air reservation in our staging environment with the following command:

Using Postman

If you prefer to use the Postman API request generation tool, we've created a Postman collection with sample code for publishing and generating events in staging and production through the API. You can download the file and import it directly into Postman with minimal configuration.

To make a POST request to the endpoints in the collection, you will need to add the client_key and secret_key variables to the top level folder under the Variables tab.

On top of the necessary endpoints and sample JSON body, the postman collection also includes a pre-request Script that will generate the HMAC Authentication header for each request.

Customer Data

The list of test customers entered into the gemstone accounts was generated via Mockaroo.com. The entire customer list is provided below for your convenience. You can also download the entire customers.csv file.

We can also import a set of customers from your system into the gemstone accounts. If you export your customers as a csv file in the same format, we can easily upload them into our system.

Any similarity with real people or companies, was purely coincidental.
